Description
Truly amazing 60.5 acre property just west of Yakima, WA just east of the summit of Cowiche Mountain. The property has panoramic views to the south of the orchards surrounding Yakima and to the north of the vast valley containing the Cowiche Elk Refuge. This would make a perfect hunting location. You literally cannot walk 5 feet anywhere on the property without encountering elk and deer droppings. Imagine waking up and being surrounded by hundreds of Elk! At the bottom of the hill to the north are the winter elk feeding stations and the property is within the elk fences that protect the orchards from the elk herds. One small canyon within the property has a well-established game trail.
This property does have the remnants of a small hunting cabin hidden in the center of the property with amazing views and southern exposure. There is some debris from the cabin which would need removal. But the cabin is likely repairable and did have septic when in use. For the right person a little work would make this an amazing getaway. There are several other flat areas which would be suitable for an RV or off-grid cabin.
This property has legal and physical access and is essentially at the end of the road. There are a few neighbors on surrounding 40 acre plots, some permanent residents and some seasonal cabins. The dirt road should be passable by most vehicles although all-wheel drive may be needed in wetter months for the last 100 yards.
It feels very remote due to the 3000 foot elevation, yet you are just over 10 miles from many amenities such as Walgreens, Walmart, Costco, Dutch Bros Coffee, Dominos Pizza and Lowes Hardware. The area of Yakima at the bottom of the hill has large expensive homes, orchards and wineries. You are away from it all and yet close enough to run to the store easily for anything you could possibly need.
Only 160 miles from Seattle so you could be here in under 3 hours from the city. Easy to even get here for the weekend. You can camp out, hunt or visit the coffee shops and wineries. Close to popular hiking trails in Cowiche Canyon and mountain biking trails.
